About Position/Job

The University of Sydney is seeking a Research Assistant to join Professor Alison Betts’ ARC-funded project, “Climate Change Mitigation Strategies for Food Security in Northeast India”. This part-time (0.4 FTE), fixed-term role for 3.5 years offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research on food sustainability and climate adaptation in northeast India. The successful candidate will coordinate grant-related activities, manage research archives, conduct literature reviews, and assist with GIS mapping and digital illustration. Ideal candidates will have a background in agriculture, botany, or food sustainability, and experience in research-intensive environments. This position provides exposure to interdisciplinary methods, international collaboration, and the potential for co-publication of project findings, reflecting the Discipline of Archaeology’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges through innovative research.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, botany, food sustainability, or related fields
  • Experience in scientific literature searches and research administration
  • Proven ability to manage research data and assist in grant coordination
  • Strong understanding of higher education research environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or willingness to learn GIS mapping and digital illustration
  • Experience in the co-publication of research findings
  • Knowledge of international research collaboration
