A permanent part-time Research Assistant position (50% workload) is available at the Department of Prehistory, Philipps University Marburg. Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed university degree (Diploma or Master’s) in Prehistoric Archaeology
  • Ongoing or completed doctoral research in the field
  • Experience with English-language and hybrid teaching
  • Business-fluent proficiency in at least two of these languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese
  • Proficiency in geoarchaeological software (QGIS, Magneto, GPRInsights) and technical instruments
  • Driving license class B or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Several years of experience managing third-party funded projects
  • Strong background in project application and reporting
  • Experience with international fieldwork and longer stays abroad

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific services in research and teaching
  • Teach 8 semester hours per week in BA Archaeological Sciences and MA Prehistoric Archaeology/Geoarchaeology
  • Lead the Geoarchaeological Laboratory (GeoALab)
  • Participate in the MO:VE hybrid teaching program
  • Engage in faculty Focus Topic I: “Mobility and Networking”
  • Conduct field research in Central Europe and the Mediterranean, including longer overseas stays
