Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or Natural Sciences
- Knowledge of data engineering and data science concepts
- Experience in scientific programming (C++, Python, Matlab)
- Unix operating system proficiency
- Ability to work with large datasets
- Collaborative and multicultural team skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with machine learning, data mining, or data assimilation
- Knowledge of git, Docker, Kubernetes, or metadata management
- Experience in high-performance computing workflows
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain structured repositories for scientific data and software
- Manage and enhance project websites with interactive tools and real-time visualisations
- Develop software pipelines for processing, analysing, and visualising satellite data (GOES, POES, ARASE)
- Adapt and extend existing scientific codes and models for new research problems
- Contribute to numerical models (VERB) and machine learning frameworks (KpML, PINE, NET)
- Perform observational and model data analysis, contributing to publications
- Architect computational workflows ensuring reproducibility and efficiency
- Support mentoring and technical team activities
- Collaborate with international research partners
