About the Position
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is inviting applications for a Research Associate position in the field of palaeoclimate and environmental science, supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India. Hosted by the Department of Earth Sciences and supervised by Dr Pradeep Srivastava, this project aims to reconstruct past climate variability using lake and peat records from the Himalaya and its foreland. This opportunity is ideal for researchers with expertise in pollen analysis, diatoms, stable isotopes, and sedimentology. The position offers the chance to contribute to a high-impact, interdisciplinary project investigating Holocene climatic dynamics in one of the world’s most climate-sensitive regions. The selected candidate may also be considered for PhD admission based on performance.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Geology or Environmental Sciences
- Research experience in palaeoclimate studies using lake or peat sediment records
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with pollen, diatoms, stable isotopes
- Familiarity with metagenomics
- Strong publication record in relevant areas
Key Responsibilities
- Independently conduct sediment core sampling and analysis
- Reconstruct past climate records from established and novel sediment profiles
- Integrate metagenomic data into climate reconstructions
- Publish high-quality research outputs
