About the Position
The German Historical Institute London (GHIL) is inviting applications for a Research Associate specialising in late medieval English history. This part-time, 24-month position is part of the DFG-funded project “Money, History, and Moral Economies: Communicative Functions of Monetary Information in the Institutional Historiography of the Later Middle Ages (1250–1530)”, led by Dr Marcus Meer. Based in London with hybrid working options, the role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a pioneering investigation into the cultural and communicative meanings of monetary information in late medieval institutions. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Medieval History (submitted by interview date)
- Strong knowledge of late medieval English history
- Competence in using manuscript and printed sources
- Proficiency in Latin and Middle English
- Legal right to work in the UK
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in academic event organisation and publication coordination
- Relevant scholarly publications
- Communication and outreach experience
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct original research on specific case studies within the project framework
- Contribute to the project’s academic database and outputs
- Organise an international academic conference
- Coordinate and edit a publication volume based on the conference proceedings
- Support project visibility and public engagement initiatives
