About Position/Job

The Cytogenetics Laboratory, Department of Zoology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), invites applications for the post of Research Associate (RA) under a DBT-funded research project titled “Roles of multiple transcripts of hsromega lncRNA gene of Drosophila melanogaster in development, immunity, and omega speckle organization.” This project aims to explore advanced molecular and cell biological processes using the Drosophila model system.

The project is supervised by Prof. S. C. Lakhotia, BHU Distinguished Professor. The appointment will be purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Essential Qualification:

Ph.D. in Cell Biology / Molecular Genetics / Developmental Biology or related fields.
Applicants who have submitted their doctoral thesis and are awaiting results may also apply.
Strong publication record in the relevant areas is desirable.

Desirable Skills:

Hands-on experience in Drosophila genetics
Expertise in molecular and cell biology techniques
Experience with nuclear architecture or RNA biology

Key Responsibilities

Conduct research on hsromega lncRNA transcripts and their role in development and immunity
Employ advanced molecular and cell biology tools
Analyze topological distributions and interactions of transcripts with nuclear proteins
Participate in collaborative discussions and reporting
