About Position/Job
Ulster University’s School of Geography & Environmental Sciences is inviting applications for a Research Associate in Marine Science to join the European Research Council (ERC) funded project ENDURE. This full-time, fixed-term post (two years) focuses on marine remote sensing and modelling of the preservation and decay of underwater archaeological sites. The successful candidate will work with environmental and anthropogenic datasets to model factors influencing site preservation. The project is supervised by Principal Investigator David Gregory (National Museum of Denmark) with support from co-investigators Chris McGonigle and Rory Quinn. Based at the Coleraine campus, the role combines interdisciplinary approaches across marine science, archaeology, and computational modelling to enhance understanding of underwater cultural heritage and inform conservation strategies.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Marine Science, Archaeology, Environmental Science, or related discipline
- Experience in remote sensing, computational modelling, or underwater site analysis
- Strong data analysis and quantitative modelling skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with marine conservation projects
- Previous work in European-funded research initiatives
- Interdisciplinary collaboration experience
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on preservation and decay of underwater archaeological sites
- Model environmental and anthropogenic data for the ENDURE project
- Contribute to publications and dissemination of research outputs
- Assist Principal Investigator and co-investigators in project management
- Engage with stakeholders and support knowledge transfer activities
