About Position/Job
The University of Bordeaux, France is recruiting a Research Engineer in Bioinformatics Applied to Archaeogenetics within the PACEA laboratory (From Prehistory to Present: Culture, Environment and Anthropology). This full-time, 12-month research support role is part of the Human Past Major Research Program, which investigates major biological and cultural transitions in human history from Prehistory to historical periods. The position focuses on developing innovative bioinformatics graph-based methods that integrate cultural and genetic data to better understand cultural diffusion and demographic dynamics in past human populations. Based in Pessac, Gironde, the project connects archaeogenetics, anthropology, computational genomics, and network science, contributing to interdisciplinary research at the interface of biological, environmental, and human sciences.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in paleogenomics or bioinformatics
- Knowledge of anthropology, archaeology, genetics, and molecular biology
- Experience with computational genomics and graph theory
- Proficiency in Linux environment, Shell Bash, and Python
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent English language skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Pandas, NumPy, and NetworkX libraries
- Familiarity with Gephi or Cytoscape for graph visualisation
- Knowledge of HaploGrep, pathPhynder, or Yleaf for uniparental marker analysis
- Experience with ATLAS, GLIMPSE, and ancIBD tools
- Basic French language skills
