About the Position
The School of Earth Sciences at the University of Western Australia (UWA) is inviting applications for a Research Fellow (Earth Sciences) position. This is a full-time, two-year fixed-term opportunity offering a base salary of AUD $118,150 – $139,812 p.a. plus 17% superannuation. The role is ideal for early-career researchers passionate about mineralogy, geochemistry, geochronology, and critical minerals research. The selected candidate will contribute to world-class research within the ARC-funded Centre for Critical Resources for the Future, collaborating closely with industry, academia, and government partners. The project supports UWA’s mission to lead innovation in mineral, petroleum, and marine geoscience, promoting sustainable resource development and training the next generation of geoscientists.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Geoscience or related field
- Demonstrated expertise in mineralogy, mineral chemistry, and geochronology
- Proficiency in microanalysis techniques such as electron microbeam, ion microprobe, or laser ablation ICPMS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record in critical minerals research
- Strong engagement with the minerals exploration industry
- Experience supervising PhD students and collaborating across disciplines
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate research workflows and data management
- Lead engagement with industry and government partners
- Ensure data quality control and facilitate knowledge transfer
- Supervise and train PhD students
- Contribute to collaborative research outputs within the School and the ARC Centre
