About Position/Job

The University of Oxford is offering an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow in Biocultural Heritage at the renowned Pitt Rivers Museum. This two-year Fellowship, in collaboration with the School of Geography and the Environment, is aimed at fostering interdisciplinary research linking biocultural heritage and museum collections. It is part of the University’s growing investment in heritage science, aligned with the cross-departmental OCHRE initiative, and supported by significant RICHeS funding from the AHRC. This is a rare chance to work within a research-active museum with exceptional collections and extensive research infrastructure.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in Geography or a closely related field.
  • Track record of high-quality research publications.
  • Experience in securing research funding (as PI or Co-I).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with museum-based research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and publish independent research on biocultural heritage.
  • Engage actively with research groups at the Pitt Rivers Museum and School of Geography and the Environment.
  • Utilize and enhance access to museum collections and University research equipment.
  • Contribute to collaborative research initiatives within the OCHRE network.
