About Position/Job
The Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University (ANU) invites applications for a part-time, fixed-term Research Fellow position. This role supports Professor Christian Barry on the global ‘Rio Tinto for Future Materials’ project, which aims to rethink how materials are sourced, processed, used, and recycled through ethical, social, and environmental lenses. The successful applicant will contribute to both research and teaching in moral and/or political philosophy within the School of Philosophy. This opportunity is ideal for scholars with a strong foundation in normative theory and a desire to engage in high-impact, interdisciplinary collaboration with global relevance.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Philosophy
- Demonstrated expertise in moral and/or political philosophy
- Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Undergraduate teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in applied ethics or global justice
- Prior collaboration on interdisciplinary or sustainability projects
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research under the ‘Rio Tinto for Future Materials’ project

- Contribute to publications and reports
- Assist in teaching undergraduate courses
