About the Position
The University of Southampton invites applications for a Research Fellow in (Exo)Planetary Climate Modelling, joining the dynamic research group led by Dr João M. Mendonça. This three-year, full-time postdoctoral position focuses on developing and enhancing the OASIS 3D climate model, which simulates planetary and exoplanetary atmospheres. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in planetary science, atmospheric physics, astrophysics, or a related field
- Proven experience in numerical modelling or scientific programming
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 3D climate models or planetary atmosphere modelling
- Background in computational methods, algorithm development, or applied mathematics
- Ability to work collaboratively in international research environments
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise the OASIS 3D climate model
- Design new physical parameterisations and numerical algorithms
- Conduct independent and collaborative research aligned with the group’s objectives
- Present research outcomes at international conferences
- Publish high-impact findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Support the group’s engagement with global research partners (UCL, Caltech, etc.)
