About the Position
The German Historical Institute Warsaw (GHI), part of the Max Weber Foundation, is inviting applications for a full-time Research Fellow (Post-Doctoral level) beginning on or after November 2025. The position focuses on Polish and East-Central European history in a transnational context, with special encouragement for projects contributing to the theme “Violence: Social Practices and Power Relations”. Fellows will conduct their own research project, publish, organise academic events, and support visiting scholars. This opportunity offers a stimulating international environment that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, academic freedom, and engagement with comparative and transnational perspectives. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in humanities or social sciences
- Strong command of Polish, German, and English (or willingness to acquire)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of additional Eastern European languages
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in research environments
- Commitment to developing digital skills
