La Trobe University is offering an exciting Research Fellow – Quantitative Ecologist position within the Centre for Freshwater Ecosystems (CFE), part of the School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment. This full-time, three-year fixed-term research role focuses on quantitative ecology, with a strong emphasis on flow–ecology relationships and habitat suitability modelling for freshwater organisms. Based at the Albury–Wodonga Campus, Australia, the position is ideal for an early-career researcher seeking to work on applied and interdisciplinary environmental research. The successful candidate will collaborate with a dedicated team of scientists under the academic leadership of Professor Nick Bond, contributing to projects that support the sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Completed PhD or equivalent research experience in ecology or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in statistical and quantitative modelling
- Proficiency in R or similar programming languages for ecological analysis
- Record of publications, reports, or conference contributions
- Strong communication and data interpretation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with spatial, hydrological, or large ecological datasets
- Demonstrated ability to supervise or co-supervise Honours, Masters, or PhD students
- Experience working in interdisciplinary environmental research teams
Key Responsibilities
