Research Project Manager in Archaeology (ERC Project) – University of York, UK – Apply by 22 February 2026

About Position/Job

The University of York is seeking a Research Project Manager in Archaeology to support the ERC-funded FORAGER project within the Department of Archaeology. This part-time role contributes to a six-year international research programme exploring alternative pathways of human demographic growth in temperate northern Holocene societies. The project focuses on prehistoric hunter-gatherer-fisher communities in Japan, the Baltic, the Pacific Northwest, and Northeastern North America. Working closely with Professor Oliver Craig at the BioArCh research facility, the postholder will coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration across archaeology, biomolecular science, and heritage research. Combining laboratory analysis, fieldwork coordination, stakeholder engagement, and international partnership management, the role aligns with York’s recognised strengths in archaeological science and globally impactful research. This position offers a key role in managing complex international research within a world-leading archaeological research environment.
