About the Position
The National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in France is seeking a Researcher in Ancient History and Archaeology to join the Environnements et sociétés de l’orient ancien laboratory in Lyon. This full-time role begins on 14 November 2025 and focuses on the study of gender iconography in the Iron Age, specifically female representations in Luristan bronzes. The project aims to shed light on gender roles, identity, and social structures in ancient Iranian societies, placing them within the wider cultural continuum of the region. Using interdisciplinary approaches—including iconography, metallurgy, semiotics, and gender archaeology—the successful candidate will work with national and international collections, organise scientific events, and contribute to Archéorient’s global research profile. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Archaeology, Ancient History, or related field

- Fluency in English and Persian
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with interdisciplinary methodologies in archaeology
- Ability to engage with museum collections and archival sources
- Experience in organising academic workshops and building international networks
Key Responsibilities
