Scientific Coordinator Position in Archaeology at LEIZA, Mainz, Germany

About the Position

The Leibniz Centre for Archaeology (LEIZA) invites applications for a part-time Scientific Coordinator to support the interdisciplinary research initiative “Resiliencies: Comparing and Integrating Methodologies, Methods, Narratives, and Theories” (RECOMENT) at its Mainz location. This role is pivotal in advancing archaeological research and fostering collaboration across institutions.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctorate in archaeological sciences
  • Experience in managing third-party funded projects
  • Proficiency in German and English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in organizing academic events
  • Familiarity with committee work and reporting
  • Interest in interdisciplinary research

Key Responsibilities

  • Administration and coordination of the ScienceCampus and the associated work programme
  • Participation in the development and implementation of the work programme
  • Organization of meetings and events
  • Preparation and follow-up of committee meetings
  • Reporting
  • Coordination of financial planning in coordination with the finance departments of the participating institutions and the RECOMENT Board of Directors
  • Coordination of the external presentation of the ScienceCampus RECOMENT in coordination with the responsible communication and press departments
  • Maintaining external contacts/partners and networking
