The Senckenberg Global Fellowship provides an exceptional opportunity for early-career researchers, including doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows from the Global South, to advance cutting-edge research at one of Europe’s leading natural history institutions. Fellows gain access to Senckenberg’s extensive collections of over 41 million specimens, state-of-the-art laboratories, and expert scientific mentorship in biodiversity, anthropology, geology, genomics, and conservation ecology. This fellowship promotes international collaboration, supports interdisciplinary research, and contributes to globally relevant scientific knowledge. Fellows can develop high-quality projects, strengthen research skills, and expand their academic network, while contributing to the institution’s strategic goals and broader global research priorities.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent; doctoral candidates also eligible
- Early-career researchers, postdoctoral fellows
- Applicants must be from countries of the Global South
- Must have temporary or permanent affiliation with a research institution
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in fieldwork, laboratory techniques, or collection-based research
- Demonstrated ability for interdisciplinary collaboration
Not Eligible:
- Applicants with permanent residence in Germany, EU countries, North America, Australia
- Undergraduate students or those with concurrent grants

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a research project in collaboration with Senckenberg host
- Produce project deliverables, including reports, publications, and presentations

- Submit a project report within three months of fellowship completion
- Contribute to knowledge exchange and capacity-building within the host group
