About the Position

Institute of Archaeology invites applications for a Not funded by a EU programme Senior Assistant position in Archaeology at its Scientific Department in Zagreb, Croatia. This academic opportunity focuses on Roman infrastructure systems, territorial remains, and archaeological mapping in the Pannonia region, while contributing to international research in archaeological science, cultural heritage, and landscape archaeology.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will work within the project “Mapping of Roman infrastructure – ROME”, conducting independent and collaborative research using archaeological fieldwork, GIS-based spatial analysis, statistical data processing, and database management. The role offers access to established research frameworks, digital methodologies, and expert supervision, supporting high-quality publications and long-term academic development.

Applicants must hold a PhD in archaeology or a related discipline and demonstrate strong experience in research design, data analysis, and scientific publication. Preferred competencies include proficiency in statistical software, GIS tools, and database systems, alongside experience in bioarchaeology or skeletal analysis. Strong communication, academic writing, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills are essential.

This is a full-time, fixed-term research position for 19 months, starting in 2026, funded under a Not funded by a EU programme scheme.
