About the Position

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) invites applications for the post of Senior Project Scientist in the project titled “LAB DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNT – XRF.” This position offers an opportunity to contribute to advanced analytical research in Earth Science and Geology, focusing on WD-XRF and IRMS systems for geochemical and isotopic analysis. Position/Job Details

Research Area

  • Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (WD-XRF) instrumentation
  • Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS)
  • Petrology and Geochemistry
  • Analytical Earth Science and elemental data analysis

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or Postgraduate degree with 4 years of relevant experience in Earth Science or Geology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in operation, calibration, and maintenance of WD-XRF instruments.
  • Experience in sample preparation, elemental data interpretation, and stable isotope analysis using IRMS systems.
  • Background in petrology or geochemistry preferred.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain WD-XRF and IRMS systems.
  • Conduct sample analysis, data interpretation, and quality control for elemental and isotopic studies.
  • Assist in lab development and instrument troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with researchers in Earth Science and related fields to support ongoing projects.
