About the Position/Job
The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) invites applications for Senior Research Fellow in Archaeology to join the IKS Centre for Ancient Indian Technologies. This one-year, full-time fellowship involves interdisciplinary research on Harappan settlements and bead manufacturing technologies, including architectural principles, civil engineering concepts, and innovative materials like ernestite. Fellows will conduct field documentation, 3D recording of excavated structures, lab-based analyses, and prepare reports, illustrations, and presentations. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- M.A./M.Sc. in Archaeology, Ancient History, or Culture and Archaeology
- 2 years of research experience; PhD candidates who have submitted dissertations are eligible
- Strong academic track record and publications
- Proficiency in English and ability to write reports independently
- Software skills for preparing illustrations and documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
- GATE/UGC-NET or other national-level exam qualification
- Experience with lab-based research, fieldwork, or interdisciplinary projects
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on architectural principles and bead manufacturing in Harappan civilization
- Document evidence from literary sources and excavated sites
- Perform lab analysis of ernestite and other materials
