Senior Research Fellow – IIT Goa, India

About the Position

The Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) invites applications for the position of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) to work on the project titled “Discontinuous Galerkin Finite Element Analysis of the Coupled Time-Dependent Navier–Stokes and Darcy Problem.” This project, funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), is based in the School of Mathematics and Computer Science. The selected candidate will engage in advanced computational and theoretical modelling using finite element methods and high-performance computing (HPC) systems. Under the supervision of Dr Saumya Bajpai, the research will contribute to developing efficient numerical methods for complex coupled fluid–flow systems—bridging mathematics, computation, and engineering.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

MSc in Mathematics (CGPA above 6.5)
Qualified GATE/CSIR/UGC-NET in Mathematics
At least two years of teaching or research experience relevant to the field

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++
Experience with FreeFem++ or FEniCS software

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement finite element analysis techniques for coupled flow problems
Conduct numerical simulations using HPC systems
Collaborate with researchers on model optimisation and validation
Prepare technical reports and publications
