About the Position
The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (MAA) at the University of Cambridge invites applications for the role of Senior Teaching and Collections Assistant in the Archaeology section. This position will support teaching, research, and collections care, working closely with the Collections Manager (Archaeology) and an existing Senior Teaching and Collections Assistant to enhance the use of the museum’s archaeological collections. The role focuses on improving the care, documentation, and accessibility of the Keyser Teaching Collection, supporting undergraduate teaching in the Department of Archaeology, and facilitating research access for postgraduate students, faculty, and research associates. The post also contributes to outreach activities linked to departmental teaching and research. This fixed-term role is funded until 1 August 2027, with in-person interviews scheduled for 17 September 2025.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Professional experience with museum or archaeological collections
- Strong IT skills and proficiency in collections management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational ability and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred criteria:
- Experience with archaeological collection cataloguing, photography, and documentation
- Knowledge of conservation protocols and museum handling standards
- Experience supporting academic teaching and research visits
- Engagement in public outreach activities
Key Responsibilities
- Support and expand the use of archaeological collections for undergraduate teaching
- Improve care, documentation, and accessibility of the Keyser Teaching Collection
- Arrange and support research visits for University of Cambridge postgraduate students, faculty, and associates
- Assist the Collections Manager (Archaeology) in documentation, imaging, and cataloguing
- Maintain high standards of security, environmental control, and handling for archaeological items
- Participate in outreach activities linked to departmental research and teaching
