About Position/Job

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) invites applications for the positions of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and Research Associate-II (RA-II) to work on a funded research project in Development Economics and Gender. Under the supervision of Prof. Deepak Singhania, Assistant Professor, HSS Department, candidates will focus on secondary data analysis, data management, literature review, and research output preparation. This opportunity involves working with large-scale national surveys of India such as NFHS, NSSO, and IHDS. The role offers a chance to develop expertise in econometric analysis, data visualization, and policy-oriented research while collaborating in a dynamic academic environment at IIT Gandhinagar.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • SRF: B.Sc./B.A./B.C.A./B.Tech. or equivalent with minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.
  • RA-II: M.Tech./M.S./M.Phil. or equivalent; OR B.Tech./B.E./M.Sc./M.A./M.C.A. with ≥2 years experience; OR B.C.A./B.Sc./B.A. with ≥6 years experience.
  • Proficiency in STATA and/or R for data management and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong econometric skills with large datasets
  • Excellent academic writing and data visualization skills
  • Familiarity with econometric concepts

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct secondary data analysis combining multiple large datasets
  • Work with national-level surveys of India (NFHS, NSSO, IHDS)
  • Review literature and synthesize findings for project reports
  • Assist in report writing, data visualization, and editing research outputs
  • Support the Principal Investigator in academic and professional tasks
