About Position/Job
The School of Heritage and Culture at the University of Leicester is hiring a Teaching Fellow in Roman History to cover teaching duties during a temporary staff secondment. This fixed-term position runs until 30 June 2026. The successful candidate will deliver lectures and seminars on Roman history, from introductory surveys of the Roman world to in-depth studies of Late Antiquity. Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching, assessment, dissertation supervision, and contributions to school-level academic administration. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Roman Ancient History (or equivalent)
- Undergraduate teaching experience
- Evidence of research activity (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- IT proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in a UK Higher Education Institution
- Experience supervising dissertations
- Familiarity with academic administration
Key Responsibilities
