About the Fellowship
The UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Archaeology and Conservation aim to strengthen international academic cooperation and promote cultural understanding through advanced training in archaeological practices. Hosted by Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, and supported by the Polish National Commission for UNESCO, the fellowship offers emerging scholars from selected developing countries the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research and conservation studies. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a national of one of the 24 invited Member States:
Algeria, Bolivia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Ghana, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, South Africa, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan - Must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferably in Archaeology or Conservation)
- Must be proficient in English (reading and writing)
- Must be under the age of 40
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in archaeological fieldwork or conservation
- Strong academic record or published work
- Participation in international seminars or research projects
Not Eligible:
- Applicants over the age of 40
- Applicants not belonging to the invited countries
- Applicants with incomplete documentation
Fellowship Benefits

- Special pocket allowance of USD 120 from UNESCO
Key Responsibilities
- Complete a main course titled “New multidisciplinary methods in archaeological practice”
- Participate in additional courses, workshops, and seminars
- Engage in hands-on training and research at the Faculty of Archaeology
- Contribute to interdisciplinary dialogue and cultural exchange
- Prepare a final research report or presentation

- Completed UNESCO Fellowship Application Form (all 4 pages in English, in capital letters)
- Passport-sized identity photo
- Scanned copy of passport (homepage)
- Certified English translations of Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees
- Certificate of English Language Knowledge (if English is not your first language)
- Two letters of recommendation (academic or professional)
