About Position/Job

The University of Montpellier invites applications for Visiting Fellowships as part of its MAK’IT – Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions initiative. This programme supports international researchers in contributing to the governance of transitions through public policy and interdisciplinary collaboration. Fellows will be hosted in Montpellier for 3 to 6 months, receiving full financial and logistical support while working within one of France’s premier sustainability-focused academic ecosystems.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD + 5 years postdoctoral research
  • Employment with a foreign institution
  • Tax residence outside France
  • No residency in France over 12 months in past 3 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with policy-relevant research
  • Interdisciplinary and collaborative project history
  • Familiarity with open science and scientific inclusion
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainable development transitions

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Montpellier-based research teams
  • Present research in seminars
  • Submit an activity report with host
  • Contribute to scientific events and research dissemination
  • Acknowledge the I-SITE programme in all outputs
