Leiden University’s Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in Crisis Governance. This role supports the university’s commitment to interdisciplinary research and high-quality teaching in security and crisis studies. Eligibility and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Crisis Governance, Disaster Management, Political Science, Public Administration, or related field
  • Strong academic publication record
  • Experience in university-level teaching
  • Excellent proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interdisciplinary teaching and research experience
  • Experience in course and curriculum development
  • Willingness to learn Dutch
  • University Teaching Qualification (UTQ/BKO) or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated engagement with policy or societal stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs
  • Developing and delivering new courses in crisis and safety governance
  • Supervising BA and MSc theses or capstone projects
  • Conducting high-quality, peer-reviewed research
  • Applying for research grants and participating in collaborative projects
  • Contributing to academic administration and team development
