About the Program
The University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne invites applications for a fully funded PhD in Mortuary Practices, Food, Health and Mobility in ancient Mesoamerica. The project focuses on the study of funerary contexts and skeletal remains from the Bajío region of Mexico, exploring ancient adaptation to environmental and social changes. Hosted at UMR 8096 ArchAm, the position is part of a prestigious international collaboration involving the Center for Mexican and Central American Studies (CEMCA). This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated student to work at the intersection of archaeology, bio-anthropology, and geochemistry, with training in cutting-edge analytical methods, fieldwork, and interdisciplinary research.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in archaeology, bio-anthropology, or related fields
- Strong interest in funerary contexts, ancient diets, and mobility studies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior fieldwork or osteological research experience
- Experience with isotopic methods or bioarchaeological analysis
- Strong academic record and analytical skills
- Ability to work internationally (Mexico-based field stays are required)
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or French is beneficial but not mandatory
