About the Position
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram invites applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under the externally funded PMECR Grant project, “Impact of Monsoon Low-Pressure Systems on Extreme Hydrological Events: A Guide to Prediction and Analysis.” This research seeks to deepen understanding of monsoon dynamics, especially low-pressure systems and their link to extreme hydrological events. The selected candidate will join a dynamic research environment contributing to the institute’s commitment to cutting-edge climate and atmospheric science. The project’s interdisciplinary nature blends fluid dynamics, meteorology, and advanced data analysis, offering a valuable opportunity for early-career researchers to engage with complex environmental systems using machine learning and Python-based tools. The position is ideal for candidates interested in tropical meteorology and predictive hydrology, with potential for extension based on performance.
