About the Position
The Department of History at Royal Holloway, University of London invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Modern Greek Studies, generously funded by the A. G. Leventis Foundation. This two-year fixed-term post offers an exceptional opportunity to join a vibrant academic community known for its strengths in Hellenism and diaspora research. Based in Egham, Surrey, near London, the fellow will be embedded within the Hellenic Institute and the Centre for Greek Diaspora Studies, both hubs of international research excellence. The successful applicant will contribute original scholarship in Modern Greek Studies, ideally with a focus on diasporas or religious minorities, while also supporting events, teaching, and institutional activities. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Modern Greek Studies or a closely related field
- Demonstrated potential for outstanding publications
- Well-developed independent research agenda
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialisation in Modern Greek diasporas or religious minorities
- Experience contributing to academic initiatives or research centres
- Willingness to engage in undergraduate teaching and institutional administration
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct original and independent research
- Engage with activities of the Hellenic Institute and CGDS
- Contribute to teaching in Modern European History
- Support events and administrative functions tied to the fellowship
- Participate in and enrich the department’s scholarly community
