About the Position
BRGM, France’s leading public institution in Earth Science applications, is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Marine Geosciences and Coastal Dynamics. Based at the Pessac site within the R3C unit, this full-time, fixed-term role begins on 1 October 2025 for candidates with a PhD awarded within the last 3 years. The position supports collaborative research across the rocky coasts of Charente and the Basque region, contributing to the IRICOT–IRIMA and FALAISES projects. The successful candidate will conduct advanced fieldwork, manage monitoring systems, analyse coastal sediment dynamics, and contribute to modelling and scientific publications. The role includes field travel and occasional trips to Orléans. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Earth Sciences (awarded within the past 3 years), specialising in coastal geomorphology, oceanography, or related fields
- Strong knowledge of nearshore marine processes
- Fieldwork experience, including challenging environments
- Proficiency in Python or R, and tools like GIS, photogrammetry, bathymetry
- Fluency in English and French
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in sensor deployment and coastal data analysis
- Background in sediment dynamics and impact modelling
- Scientific communication skills, with publication experience
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute field campaigns and uphold safety protocols
- Install and maintain coastal monitoring systems
- Process time series data and assess marine events
- Study sediment supply, transport, and erosive dynamics
- Collaborate on modelling within the IRICOT and FALAISES projects
- Prepare scientific reports, publications, and conference presentations
