About Position
The University of Padua is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Position in Ancient Roman History within the prestigious project PETERE – “PEtendi Tempus: Exploring Roman Elections (consulships 133–79 BC)”. This project investigates electoral campaigns and voting practices in the late Roman Republic, analysing case studies of up to 30 consular elections. Combining historical, archaeological, and political psychology methods, the project challenges long-standing narratives of Roman elections while exploring why certain candidates rose to the consulship. Hosted by the Department of Historical and Geographic Sciences and the Ancient World (DiSSGeA), this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative interdisciplinary research in one of Europe’s leading centres for Ancient History.
