The School of Culture and Society, Aarhus University, invites applications for Full Professor positions in Archaeology at the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, Campus Moesgaard, Denmark. These permanent roles, starting September 2026, offer an exciting opportunity to shape archaeological research and education in one of Europe’s leading environments. Professors will contribute to cutting-edge projects through interdisciplinary approaches combining excavation, fieldwork, laboratory methods, and archival sources. They will lead research, secure external funding, collaborate internationally, and mentor PhD students, postdocs, and early-career scholars. The role also involves teaching across BA, MA, and PhD levels, developing curricula, and fostering public engagement through museum and heritage collaborations. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Archaeology or equivalent
- Strong international research record with publications
- Success in securing external research funding
- University-level teaching and supervision experience
- Commitment to mentoring PhD and postdoctoral researchers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in Southern Scandinavian archaeology
- Leadership in talent development and research management
- Experience in knowledge exchange and public engagement
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop international-level archaeological research
