About Position/Job

The Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) invites applications for a Research Support Technician position in anthracology and dendro-anthracology for the 2025–2026 academic year. This full-time, temporary role is part of ongoing archaeological research funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and supervised by Dr. Llorenç Picornell Gelabert. The technician will support laboratory and fieldwork, including processing anthracological and dendro-chronological samples, taxonomic identification of archaeological charcoal, and dendro-anthracological measurements. Candidates will manage and analyse datasets, contributing to publications and scientific reports. The role is ideal for early-career researchers seeking hands-on experience in Mediterranean archaeological contexts, combining practical anthracological skills with academic research. Proficiency in Catalan and English is required, with French considered advantageous.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in History or Archaeology
  • Master’s degree in Archaeology
  • Knowledge and practical experience in anthracology and dendro-anthracology
  • Ability to independently manage, process, and analyse datasets
  • Proficiency in Catalan and English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of French
  • Prior experience with dendro-anthracology studies in Mediterranean settings
  • 1–4 years of relevant research experience
