About the Position
The University of Cambridge invites applications for up to two UKRI-funded Research Assistant/Associate positions in Exoplanetary Remote Sensing and Data Science within the prestigious Institute of Astronomy. Working under the guidance of Professor Nikku Madhusudhan, this role focuses on the characterisation of low-mass sub-Neptune exoplanets using James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) observations and complementary facilities. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Astronomy, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or PhD requirements fulfilled by appointment date)
- Strong communication and computing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in exoplanet spectroscopy with JWST, HST, or ground-based telescopes
- Experience with time-series analysis and large scientific datasets
- Background in remote sensing, machine learning, or full-stack software development
- Proven ability to contribute to competitive research programmes
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on low-mass exoplanets using JWST and other datasets
- Perform data reduction, statistical analyses, and model-based interpretation
- Develop tools, pipelines, or software supporting exoplanetary research
- Collaborate with the research group and contribute to publications
- Present findings at meetings and conferences
