The University of Warsaw is recruiting an Assistant for its research staff at the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology in Warsaw, Poland. The position offers a permanent, full-time employment contract, with work expected to begin on 15 October 2026.
The role sits within the academic discipline of archaeology and focuses on conservation and documentation of archaeological artefacts and heritage. The successful candidate will participate in conservation work at archaeological sites and contribute to research and monitoring activities carried out by the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology.
In particular, the Assistant will help develop conservation programmes, documentation methods and recommendations for protecting archaeological heritage. - Fluency in spoken and written Polish.
- Good English skills for using academic literature and collaborating in an international academic environment.
- Ability to organise work independently and work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience working or collaborating with a university or scientific research institution, including conservation work during foreign archaeological missions.
- Experience in archaeological heritage condition monitoring, heritage risk assessment and material studies of cultural heritage objects.
- Additional education, postgraduate studies, courses or specialist training in archaeology, art history, heritage conservation, conservation chemistry or material studies.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Participate in planning, organising and carrying out conservation work at archaeological sites of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology.
- Prepare and maintain conservation documentation.
- Participate in research and monitoring of the condition of archaeological heritage.
- Contribute to conservation programmes, documentation methods and recommendations for archaeological heritage protection.
- Collaborate with archaeologists, architects and specialists in natural and technical sciences.
- Participate in national and international research and conservation projects.
- Conduct scholarly research related to the position, including analysing and publishing research findings.
- Present research results at academic conferences.
