About the Position

The University of Warsaw invites applications for a funded Assistant Professor position in the Archaeology of Pharaonic Egypt and Nubia at the Faculty of Archaeology, located in Warsaw, Poland. This academic opportunity focuses on Egyptology, Nubian archaeology, field research, and interdisciplinary heritage studies. Moreover, it contributes to international archaeological research initiatives and global collaboration in Mediterranean and African archaeology.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the Chair of Archaeology of Egypt and Nubia, while also conducting independent research and publishing results. In addition, the role includes teaching 210 hours annually, including field courses, and participating in faculty organisational activities. Access to advanced research methods, including excavation, geophysics, and archaeometry, ensures strong academic output and professional development.

Applicants must hold a PhD in archaeology and demonstrate strong research experience supported by publications in Egypt and Nubia studies. Furthermore, candidates should show international academic exposure, teaching experience, and fluency in English, while also having sufficient Polish for teaching responsibilities. Experience in grant-funded projects and interdisciplinary collaboration will strengthen the application significantly.

This is a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position for 12 months, starting October 2026, offering a competitive salary of PLN 7,980 gross per month plus benefits.
