Required Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following essential qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant discipline with postdoctoral or equivalent academic experience.
- Strong research record in Visual Anthropology and ethnographic filmmaking.
- Proven teaching experience at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, including theoretical, methodological, and practice-based instruction.
- Portfolio of ethnographic films that have been published, screened, or widely presented.
- Potential to secure competitive external research funding.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with working proficiency in Dutch or willingness to achieve it within two years.
- Commitment to academic leadership, departmental service, and the development of Visual Anthropology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

- Develop and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Visual Anthropology.
- Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s students.
- Conduct independent anthropological research and establish a long-term research programme.
