About Position/Job

The Centre for Autism and Theology at the University of Aberdeen invites applications for a 0.4FTE Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Researcher role in the funded project “God Without Human Speech”. This unique project focuses on qualitative research involving non- or minimally-speaking autistic individuals. Aligned with the Centre’s mission to empower and value neurodivergent communities, this role contributes to wider interdisciplinary research under the “God, Language and Diversity” initiative led by the University of Leeds.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with non- or minimally-speaking autistic individuals
  • Background in qualitative research

  • PhD in theology, psychology, or a related field (for Grade 6 appointment)
  • Background or interest in religion and spirituality
  • Familiarity with neurodivergence in research or caregiving contexts

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative data collection with autistic individuals
  • Contribute to the overall aims of the “God Without Human Speech” project
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage with faith communities and contribute to inclusive research practices
