About the Fellowship
The Orient-Institut Beirut (OIB) is pleased to announce its PhD Fellowships-in-Residence for the 2026–2027 academic year. These prestigious fellowships are designed for outstanding doctoral candidates conducting research in the humanities and social sciences. Fellowships typically run for 10 months, beginning 1 September 2026 (or shortly thereafter), and support scholars whose work aligns with the institute’s academic mission across diverse disciplines, historical periods, and geographic regions.
Projects may involve historical, cultural, religious or political research approaches, and should reflect strong methodological grounding, critical inquiry and engagement with primary or regional sources where relevant. The fellowship fosters interdisciplinary dialogue and supports early-career scholars in developing internationally visible research within a collaborative institutional setting.
