About the Position
The University of Konstanz invites applications for a Junior Professorship (W1, non-tenure) in Environmental Anthropology, funded by the Centre for Cultural Inquiry (ZKF) and based in the Faculty of Humanities. The professorship starts on 1 April 2026 and is limited to six years. Embedded in the Department of History, Sociology, Sports Science and Empirical Educational Research, the role focuses on advancing an anthropological perspective within the environmental humanities. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in the BA Sociology, MA Anthropology and Sociology, and the MA Global European Studies. With opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and international visibility, this position is a unique chance to develop independent research and teaching while engaging with the intellectual environment of the ZKF.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Completed PhD (Dr. phil / PhD) in Social and Cultural Anthropology or related discipline
- Strong academic record with an outstanding dissertation
- Ability to teach in Sociology and Anthropology programmes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience and proven teaching skills
- International visibility (publications in peer-reviewed journals or with recognised publishers)
- Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an independent research agenda in environmental anthropology
- Contribute to teaching in BA Sociology, MA Anthropology and Sociology, and MA Global European Studies
- Actively participate in the interdisciplinary research contexts of the ZKF
- Publish in leading international venues and build global academic visibility
