About the Position

The Universitat de Girona (UdG) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Lecturer position in Archaeology in the Department of History and Art History, beginning 13 January 2026. The post is offered for six years with the possibility of becoming a permanent Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor, subject to performance review and institutional needs.

Located in the culturally rich city of Girona, UdG is known for its strong commitment to social responsibility and academic excellence. The department is actively involved in international research networks and offers innovative programmes across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The successful candidate will contribute to research and teaching in Greek, Roman, Late Antique, and Medieval Archaeology, helping shape future scholarship and pedagogy in these key areas of historical enquiry.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Archaeology or a closely related discipline
  • Proven experience teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level
  • Research focus on Greek, Roman, Late Antique, or Medieval Archaeology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of participation in international or competitive research projects
  • Strong publication record and ability to attract research funding
  • Ability to teach in English and/or Catalan

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in archaeology
  • Develop and publish original research
  • Supervise undergraduate and master’s theses
  • Contribute to curriculum development and academic coordination
  • Engage in academic and administrative service within the department
