About the Position

The Austrian Academy of Sciences invites applications for a Postdoc (f/m/x) in Neolithic pottery studies position at the Austrian Archaeological Institute, a leading research centre in Vienna, Austria. This is a fully funded two-year academic opportunity focusing on Neolithic ceramics, pottery analysis, and prehistoric archaeological research in Southeast Europe.

The role is embedded in Prof. Barbara Horejs’ research group “Prehistoric Phenomena”. Moreover, it supports international archaeological collaboration on Svinjarička Čuka, Serbia. The successful candidate will manage pottery recording, analytical workflows, and publication outputs using advanced archaeological methods and laboratory-based ceramic analysis techniques.

Applicants must hold a PhD in archaeology or prehistory with strong experience in pottery studies. In addition, candidates should demonstrate expertise in data management, GIS, Adobe tools, MS Office, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Excellent English communication skills and active research publication experience are essential for this position.

This is a full-time postdoctoral research position for 2 years, starting as soon as possible.
