About Position/Job
The University of Groningen is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral in Translation Studies and Digital Humanities (V25.0461) as part of the ERC Consolidator Grant project INCREC – Uncovering the creative process: from Inception to Reception of translated content using machine translation. Supervised by Prof. Ana Guerberof-Arenas, the position explores creativity in audiovisual translation and how users perceive and engage with technology-enhanced translation. Based at the Faculty of Arts, the role involves eye-tracking, questionnaires, and interviews to analyse translation reception and creativity. The postdoc will join an interdisciplinary team, contribute to publications and conferences, and may conduct short fieldwork in Spain. This project not only advances linguistic and digital humanities research but also supports the sustainability of translation work in today’s AI-driven world.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Translation Studies, Linguistics, Digital Humanities, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience with eye-tracking in experimental research
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods (statistics, interviews)
- Excellent English academic writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as an audiovisual translator
- Familiarity with AVT tools
- Knowledge of Dutch or Spanish (other language combinations considered)
- Independent, proactive work ethic and international research mindset
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experimental research using eye-tracking, questionnaires, and interviews
- Analyse user reception, creativity, and attention in audiovisual translation
- Publish at least two papers and present at conferences/seminars
- Recruit and manage participants for experiments
- Collaborate with PI, PhDs, and research coordinator in project activities
- Contribute to outreach, social media, and research network events
