Postdoctoral Position in Archaeology and Paleoenvironmental Studies at University of Warsaw, Poland

About Position/Job

The University of Warsaw is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Archaeology and Paleoenvironmental Studies to join the ERC-funded INASIA project, led by Małgorzata Kot, PhD. This exciting 48-month position focuses on Pleistocene cave archaeology, zooarchaeology, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction in Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan. The project investigates early human migration and the origins of advanced stone tool technologies, exploring whether modern humans, Neanderthals, or Denisovans developed these techniques. The role combines fieldwork in high-mountain cave sites, lab-based analysis of animal remains, and interdisciplinary collaboration with archaeologists, geologists, and other specialists. The position aligns with the Faculty of Archaeology’s commitment to international, high-impact research and offers the chance to contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in human prehistory and interdisciplinary archaeology.
