About the Position
The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is seeking applications for a Project Associate II position within the Archaeological Sciences Centre, Department of Earth Sciences. This role is part of a prestigious collaborative research project titled “Towards a National Cultural Landscape Information System: Mapping Heritage Sites for Inclusive Planning.”
This project, jointly conducted with the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangalore, is focused on geospatial mapping and creating a national database of 100 key cultural and archaeological heritage sites across India. It aims to bridge heritage preservation and sustainable urban planning. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in research, fieldwork, and data integration at IITGN’s end.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Postgraduate degree in History, Archaeology, Geography, Art History, Architecture, Cultural Heritage, Heritage Conservation, Remote Sensing, GIS, or Computer Science
- Minimum 60% marks from Graduation onwards and 55% in 10th and 12th
- At least two years of relevant research experience (e.g., JRF or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in research, GIS, and remote sensing
- Experience with cultural heritage studies and field surveys
- Proficiency in English and independent report writing skills
