About Position/Job

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Madras is inviting applications for two temporary Research Assistant positions. These roles are integral to a field-based project investigating displacement, conflict, and urban sanctuary among Internally Displaced People (IDPs) from Manipur. Selected candidates will be placed in either Delhi or Guwahati for a five-month duration. The research is coordinated by Prof Thanggoulen Kipgen and involves extensive ethnographic fieldwork. This opportunity is ideal for early-career researchers or advanced students trained in ethnographic methods who are passionate about applied research and data-driven social inquiry.   • Transcribe discussions and interviews in English
  • Organise, code, and interpret qualitative data using research tools
