The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig is hiring a motivated scientist or postdoctoral researcher to enhance the usability of near-surface geophysical datasets for cross-disciplinary applications in precision agriculture, archaeology, and geoinformatics. Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in geoscience or related discipline
- Expertise in near-surface geophysical methods
- Proven ability to work independently and conceptually
- Fluency in English and German (spoken and written)
- Experience in interdisciplinary projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of data harmonisation and metadata standards
- Experience with multimodal and cross-domain data
- Prior work in collaborative, international scientific environments
Key Responsibilities
- Develop harmonised metadata standards under the NFDI framework
- Acquire and process quality-controlled geophysical datasets
- Draft guidelines for sensor-based data collection and quality assurance
- Promote cross-disciplinary collaboration and dataset sharing
