Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Human Ecology, Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field
  • Postdoctoral experience

  • Proven interdisciplinary research on human-environment relations
  • Fieldwork experience, preferably involving indigenous communities
  • Strong record of publications and external funding
  • Capacity for collaboration within SHEP and other university institutes

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in Human Ecology
  • Teach at bachelor’s and master’s levels (e.g. archaeological sciences, prehistory, human evolution)
  • Engage with Senckenberg’s strategic programme on “Anthropocene Biodiversity Loss”
  • Participate in “Solutions Labs” – transdisciplinary think tanks addressing biodiversity challenges
  • Collaborate with the Institute for Ecology and Evolution and the Senckenberg Society
