Eligibility & Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

PhD in Human Ecology, Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field
Postdoctoral experience
University-level teaching experience equivalent to a full professorship

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven interdisciplinary research on human-environment relations
Fieldwork experience, preferably involving indigenous communities
Strong record of publications and external funding
Capacity for collaboration within SHEP and other university institutes

Key Responsibilities

Conduct independent and collaborative research in Human Ecology
Teach at bachelor’s and master’s levels (e.g. archaeological sciences, prehistory, human evolution)
Engage with Senckenberg’s strategic programme on “Anthropocene Biodiversity Loss”
Participate in “Solutions Labs” – transdisciplinary think tanks addressing biodiversity challenges
Collaborate with the Institute for Ecology and Evolution and the Senckenberg Society
